Kam Ghaffarian is a visionary entrepreneur and engineer whose mission to advance the state of humanity, and human knowledge has led him to create revolutionary companies like X-energy.

Kam founded X-energy in 2009 to reinvent nuclear energy and fulfill the growing energy needs of future generations while protecting our planet. X-energy’s vision is to be the world’s leading provider of highly innovative, 100% safe, and environmentally friendly small-scale nuclear energy solutions for government, industry, and private consumers.

Throughout his 35-plus year career, Kam has created multiple successful companies and has extensive experience working at the intersection of government contracting and technological innovation. His companies, including X-energy, have worked with NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Energy, among others, on some of their most sensitive and technically advanced projects.

Kam started his entrepreneurial career in 1994 by founding Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, Inc. (SGT), a government services company focusing on IT, engineering, and science applications. SGT became NASA’s second-largest engineering services contractor, generating over half a billion dollars in annual revenues, and was eventually acquired by KBR. He previously held numerous technical and management positions at Lockheed Martin, Ford Aerospace, and Loral.

Today, Kam is leveraging his experience in innovation and building world-class teams with groundbreaking deep-tech companies to expand the commercial space economy and create clean energy solutions. In addition to X-energy, his other companies include:

• Intuitive Machines, the premier provider of space services and technologies, which will send the first American spacecraft to the surface of the Moon in 50 years.

• Axiom Space, advancing the commercial utilization of space and building and operating the first commercial space station.

• IBX, an innovation and investment firm.

Kam also supports philanthropic initiatives in four continents and is the founder of two organizations:

• Limitless Space Institute, focused on scientific research, engaging students, and enabling future interstellar human space exploration.

• Emerging Light Foundation supports and educates 700 children in a school in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kam is an American citizen born in Iran. He first came to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue higher education. Kam remained in the United States to continue his studies and follow career opportunities. Since then, he has lived the American Dream and has worked hard to help others around the globe. He is a proud father and grandfather.
