Matt Welsh
Matt Welsh serves as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of X-energy, where he leads the company’s enterprise technology, digital engineering, and cybersecurity strategy in support of one of the most ambitious advanced-nuclear deployments in the world. He is responsible for building and integrating the digital backbone that enables X-energy’s reactor development, licensing, manufacturing, fuel production (TRISO-X), construction, and future fleet operations—spanning ERP, PLM, digital thread, cloud and HPC, AI/ML, OT/IT convergence, and regulated nuclear-grade information systems.
In this role, Matt partners closely with executive leadership, engineering, manufacturing, and government programs to translate mission-critical business objectives into scalable, secure, and compliant technology platforms, while positioning X-energy for first-of-a-kind deployment and long-term commercial growth. His work sits at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, nuclear regulatory environments, national security requirements, and next-generation digital infrastructure.
Prior to joining X-energy, Matt spent over a decade at Peraton, where he most recently served as Vice President of Government Infrastructure Services and Program Manager for the Department of Homeland Security’s Data Center and Cloud Optimization programs, overseeing large-scale, mission-critical transformations for some of the U.S. government’s most complex IT environments. Earlier in his career, he held leadership and technical roles at Booz Allen Hamilton, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Northrop Grumman, US Airways, and Anderson & Associates, building deep experience across defense, intelligence, critical infrastructure, and commercial enterprise systems.
Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, a Master of Science in Information Systems from The George Washington University, and an Innovation & Entrepreneurship Certificate from Stanford University.
