FAQs
When does the recruiting process for Summer Interns start?
X-energy will start recruiting for the 2026 summer internship program in early fall. We have a number of campus visits scheduled across the US, and we will post our open internship positions to the Careers Page by November 30th.
Do Interns work in your offices or can they work remotely?
All of our internship opportunities are fully onsite at one of our offices (Rockville, MD or Oak Ridge, TN). We believe this gives our Interns the maximum benefits of a professional experience.
Do you hire Interns throughout the year or only during the Summer?
Most of our internship opportunities are part of the summer program. Any available off-cycle internships can be found on our company website or by contacting our Recruiting department (recruiting@x-energy.com).
How many internships are available each year?
It varies from year to year. Our internship classes for the last four years have ranged from 4 to 17 interns.
Do you have available internships in more than one office?
Typically, we hire Summer Interns for the X-energy headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, as well as our TRISO-X office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Do you also hire students for fulltime work after graduation?
We do occasionally have entry level positions for new graduates. Any fulltime career opportunities will be posted on our company career page.
Do I need to submit any supplemental materials with my online application?
All Interns must submit a letter of recommendation from a professor or academic advisor. This document can be added to your application or you can send it directly to our Recruiting department (recruiting@x-energy.com).
Do you accept applications from students who are Foreign Nationals but attending school in the United States?
Our internships are open to any student with US work authorization. However, applicants must be in compliance with the Export Controls regulations of the United States of America. You can review a list of Generally Authorized Destinations at eCFR :: Appendix A to Part 810, Title 10 -- Generally Authorized Destinations.
