David Bannister

Chief Nuclear Officer, ARDP Project Deputy Director

Dave Bannister oversees the execution of the major commercial projects, creation and maintenance of the project schedule within the Project Management Office and development of measurement strategies and accountability models to ensure corporate project goals and strategies are met. He has more than 39 years of technical, executive management, and nuclear power industry experience, both in the Middle East and the United States.

Prior to joining X-energy, Dave worked at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company’s four-unit Barakah Nuclear Project during the Licensing, Construction, Commissioning and Start-up phases. At ENEC Dave was the Director of Quality and led the construction and operational Quality Assurance Programs for the four units. He then transitioned to the Vice President of Operations Support position in charge of the development of the operations programs necessary for the commission and start-up of the units. Then was promoted to the Unit 1 & 2 Site Vice President for the commissioning of Unit 1 and system acceptance of Unit 2, then Plant Manager for the Start-up and Power Ascension testing of Unit 1.

Prior to ENEC, Dave worked at Omaha Public Power District’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. His previous positions at OPPD included shift technical advisor, reactor engineer, manager of quality, shift manager and manager of operations. He also served as plant manager/division manager of Nuclear Operations during all the major component replacement outages that were part of Fort Calhoun Station’s integrated life extension program. He has served as division manager of Quality and Performance Improvement, Site Vice President and Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer.

Dave held a senior reactor operators license from 1990 to 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Nebraska Wesleyan University. He has completed managerial training programs accredited by the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

Mr. Bannister has been actively involved in industry working groups affiliated with the Utilities Services Alliance, the Nuclear Energy Institute, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations and was the executive sponsor for the FCS Chapter of the North American Young People in Nuclear. He and his wife, Viola, have three adult children.
