“I’m delighted that Marcy has decided to join our growing team, here in Canada,” said Katherine Moshonas Cole, President of X-energy Canada. “Marcy brings the technical project leadership and the in-depth Canadian nuclear industry experience to lead the delivery of our Xe-100 advanced reactor technology in Canada. This year will be pivotal as we move into greater design detail and establish the supplier relationships to realize our first projects. Marcy has the strategic intelligence and superior technical competence needed to actualize the plans we’re putting in motion.”

In her new role, Ms. Sanderson will establish and oversee a multi-disciplinary technical team for the deployment of our Xe-100 small modular reactors (SMR) in Canada, in accordance with client and local requirements. She will drive the coordination and integration of the X-energy Canada technical program activities with Ontario Power Generation (OPG), as part of our efforts to site our Generation IV advanced nuclear reactor technology at Darlington.

“Making the decision to join X-energy Canada came down to the need, the technology and the people,” said Ms. Sanderson. “SMRs will play a large part in helping Canada reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The Xe-100 reactor design best leverages the resources, supply chain and talent that exist and are in development in Canada. I’m looking forward to working with the team at X-energy and collaborating with members of our Canadian nuclear community to help meet our shared clean energy goals.”

Prior to joining X-energy Canada, Ms. Sanderson held several key positions throughout her career, most recently as Project Director and General Manager for the Bruce Major Component Replacement at SNC-Lavalin, where she oversaw all aspects of the dynamic portfolio. A talented leader with more than 15 years of nuclear engineering experience, she spent seven years on OPG’s Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement Project, finishing her tenure as the Deputy Project Director for Subsequent Units, accountable for the engineering, procurement, quality and construction planning for Darlington Units 3, 1 and 4. Known for her strong leadership and interpersonal skills, Ms. Sanderson has forged positive relationships across the Canadian nuclear industry, including with suppliers, customers, utilities and the regulator.

Ms. Sanderson holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and is a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
