Building the Future
Our Deployments
X-energy and TRISO-X are bringing next-generation nuclear technology to market, advancing Xe-100 projects in Texas, Washington state, and the United Kingdom, underpinned by a first-in-the-nation TRISO fuel fabrication campus in Tennessee to help ensure a secure supply of high-quality fuel for our fleet and other advanced reactors. Each site represents the future home of a permanent facility, precision engineered to solve for what’s next for generations to come.
Britain’s First Advanced Reactor
Centrica and X-energy are partnering to deploy the Xe-100 in the United Kingdom with Hartlepool identified as the first site. This will be the first deployment of a planned U.K. fleet of up to 6 gigawatts. Once complete, the 12-unit deployment would add up to 960 MW of new capacity—enough clean power for 1.5 million homes.

Long Mott Generating Station
Dow and X-energy are partnering for the initial deployment of the Xe-100 on the Texas Gulf Coast, supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. Once complete, Long Mott Generating Station is expected to be the first grid-scale advanced nuclear reactor deployed to serve an industrial site in North America.

Cascade Advanced Energy Facility
Amazon, Energy Northwest, and X-energy are working to deploy four and up to 12 Xe-100’s adjacent to Energy Northwest’s Columbia Generating Station in central Washington to bring new sources of clean energy to the grid, the first of several X-energy and Amazon projects targeting at least 5 GW of new nuclear by 2039.

Fuel Fabrication Campus
X-energy and TRISO-X are building TX-1, a first-in-the-nation fuel facility to manufacture TRISO fuel at commercial scale for the first time in U.S. history. This facility will be the first of several TRISO-X facilities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, each engineered to ensure a stable supply of high-quality fuel for next-generation nuclear technologies.

Deployment Process
Pre-Licensing
Safe, reliable infrastructure requires deliberate planning. Before any project begins, we analyze the specific needs of the site and the community our plants intend to serve. This phase involves rigorous site characterization, continuous environmental monitoring, and active engagement with local stakeholders and regulators to build the foundation for a mutually beneficial partnership.

Licensing
After comprehensive pre-licensing work, a Construction Permit Application is submitted to the NRC for U.S. projects, beginning a safety and environmental review process that evaluates reactor design, site suitability, and safety analysis. The NRC dockets the application, conducts technical reviews, and holds public hearings before issuing the Construction Permit. During construction, a separate Operating License Application is submitted, reviewed, and approved before the facility receives authorization to load nuclear fuel and commence operations.

Construction
Factory-fabricated reactor modules, pressure vessels, and steam generators arrive on-site for integration with civil structures built to seismic and nuclear safety standards. Construction progresses in phases—site preparation, below-grade concrete work, module installation, systems integration, and pre-operational testing—creating a durable, generational asset engineered for decades of continuous operation.

Commercial Operation
Fuel loading, startup testing, and grid synchronization mark the transition from construction to operations. The facility enters service as a fully integrated baseload asset designed to deliver firm, dispatchable power with 95%+ availability. Continuous online refueling eliminates the multi-week outages required by traditional reactors, supporting uninterrupted operations across a minimum 40-year lifecycle. Throughout commercial operation, X-energy provides fuel fabrication, operator training, and long-term maintenance services, working to ensure the plant meets performance and safety standards for decades to come.
