As Vice President, Supply Chain at X-energy, Dr. Yvotte Brits is responsible for developing and managing the enterprise-wide supply chain for all the reactor projects at X-energy ensuring the Supply Chain is well developed to meet X-energy’s growth demand supplying all the Structures, Systems and Components for the various reactor projects on schedule and budget at the best value for X-energy’s stake holders and clients.
Dr. Brits have 17 years of vital experience in the International Nuclear Industry specializing in Nuclear Services Program Development; Supply Chain Development; Product Development; Cost Estimating; developing and leading highly skilled and functioning teams; Simulator development and Instrumentation & Control design (11 years has been with X-energy.) Dr. Brits is experienced in the business development processes as a capture manager to secure business growth and experienced in working under nuclear regulatory codes (NQA-1, N299, ISO-9001).
Prior to X-Energy Dr. Brits have worked at Steenkamps kraal Thorium Limited (STL) in South Africa where he developed the supply chain and various business models and cost estimates for the High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor: Thorium-100 Nuclear Power Plant (100MWth, 35MWe). Dr. Brits have successfully completed the concept design of the Thorium-100 Nuclear Power Plant’s Instrumentation & Control Systems, power conversion system and various auxiliary systems.
Prior to STL, Dr. Brits worked for the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA) as Nuclear Engineering and Project Manager where he completed various successful projects on the 30 MWth High Flux Experimental Reactor (SAFARI-1) plant which produces medical isotopes.
Dr. Brits holds a Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering from the North Carolina State University, a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering and a Bachelors Degree in Electric & Electronic Engineering at the North-West University in South Africa. Dr. Brits have published several peer reviewed publications; he was awarded the prize for the best international master’s degree project at the International Youth Nuclear Congress in 2010 and was awarded the employee of the year at X-energy in 2020.
