Theo Odendaal is the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Director at X-energy, bringing more than 35 years of experience in nuclear quality and safety leadership. In this role, he implements and maintains programs including occupational health and safety management and the Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants.

In addition to managing these programs, Theo has obtained the Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) Certification and holds the highest standard of Management System Requirements for Nuclear Facilities CSA N286-12 compliance for the company. Theo also supports licensing by ensuring the compliance of applicable regulatory requirements for all project activities — including partners, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.

He has extensive experience in the nuclear industry, where, in previous roles, he made notable contributions to the Atomic Energy Corporation and the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (SOC) (PBMR™) project in South Africa.

 Theo holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Technical University of Tshwane, South Africa and is a Certified Lead Auditor in the following standards: ASME-NQA-1, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO/IEC 17025.
