Tim Bendt has more than 30 years experience managing contracts, proposal development, subcontracts, and procurement.  Tim heads the contracts and procurement organization with three main areas of focus, contracts, subcontracts, and purchasing.  The contracts area manages external customer relationships from proposal development, to contract award and negotiation, to contract administration and issue resolution.  The subcontracts area is focused on identifying, reviewing, and qualifying vendors to support strategic areas of our contract delivery.  The purchasing area is responsible for sourcing vendors to supply mostly non-labor items of all types, from small components to major systems.   

Before joining X-energy in 2021, Tim held leadership positions at multiple companies supporting federal agencies, including contract and procurement support to the Department of Energy for more than 20 years.  Prior support to the Department of Energy included managing the contract for IT Services for DOE headquarters and multiple field offices which spanned 7 years and was over $1B.  Tim led the development of a subcontractor support system that included over 100 approved subcontractors and consultants.  In addition, he oversaw the implementation of a federally compliant purchasing system that supported over $70 million in hardware and software purchases and DOE’s mission to move to the cloud, and seek out and implement leading edge technology solutions.

Tim has an MBA from The George Washington University, and a BS with a double major in Finance and Economics from the University of Maryland.
